Scope and Contents
The collection comprises several manuscript and typescript diaries which illustrate James Lauder Davidson’s experiences during his time in Burma, before and after WWII, and his military involvement in the conflict. Of particular interest are the earlier and later diaries, as well as the diary charting his escape into China. The collection also includes two photographic albums. Scope and Contents
The papers appear to have belonged to Lord Swinton, and may be the collection of the Reverend Samuel Semple, Swinton’s maternal grandfather (cf. FES i, 172).
